Go Beyond the Basics
This four-program set, now combined onto two DVDs, is a graduate-level course in weather flying from Richard L. Collins, taught from the cockpit of his P210. It is packed with almost seven hours of expert instruction on how to apply theory to real world situations. You'll go on actual flights with Collins to explore the relationship between forecast weather and real conditions and how complex weather systems affect the airplane. The course is organized into four programs - one on each of the four seasons - making it great for quick review.
Also includes an interactive on-screen weather decoder that puts 1,500 weather contractions at your fingertips, and works right on your TV. More than the METAR and TAF codes, this resource includes contractions covering everything from PIREPs to very technical weather forecast discussions.
These DVDs are much more than the basic material taught in primary instruction - they prepare you for serious weather flying.

Pros
I am a new vfr private pilot and I have been watching Dick Collins for years. This video is a great source of help and knowledge about different weather systems that even a VFR pilot can find useful. And especially because it covers every season, it is very in depth and a lot of video for the price.

Pros
Richard Collins does an excellent job conveying the nuances of weather for all seasons. Expectedly perhaps, it focuses on the Eastern half of the U.S., "home" for Mr. Collins. There are however excursions to the "West" from time to time. The aircraft used in the series (Cessna P210) is a "reasonable" choice for most pilots and approprately equiped for the WX series. Professionally done.
Cons
The DVD is a little dated. I'd like to see it "redone" with updated services. Seeing old IBM PCs with 10MB hard drives and Dot Matrix printers is one of the giveaways that the video is starting to get a little out of date. Still, WX is WX and Collins does his best to make it "timeless".

A good investment for your flying library.

Pros
This is the must have weather tutorial that all pilots should have in their library. Collins shares his many decades of experience and pertinent time in the air explaining just what to expect with each of the four seasons. I understand weather better than ever before after viewing these and review each of the seasons every year now.
