I will have to find another product to actually learn something.

I was dissappointed. I was looking for a product that would detail a number of communication scenarios and let me practice to improve my skills. What I ended up with was a short, about 30 minute, $30 video, that gave a few examples. I had an idea of how to communicate prior to watching this video. I have an idea of how to communicate after watching this video, it is inadequte to have any effect on my skills as there is no repetition, no testing, no input by the observer. It is shows a few examples and comments on how important good communication is. That is all. Very dissappointing. I will have to find another product to actually learn something.

Very good presentation of both VFR and IFR communications. Received my VFR private pilot rating in mid-2005 and am always looking for ways to improve my radio communications skills. This combo package has helped me significantly. It's great that Sporty's included dual media format of video DVD and CD audio for listening in my car. I have replayed these DVDs many times over the past couple of months and am still picking up many good pointers with each replay. Covers wide range of situations from pireps, clearance delivery, opening/closing flight plans via FSS and RCOs as well as Flight Watch, and communictions with ATC, towered and non-towered airports. I recommend the combo VFR/IFR package as it is a great value. Even VFR pilots will gain useful info from the IFR communications portion.
