Overall Rating Durability Reliablity Value Usability Expectations	Pros This radio has been great. I manage a small airport and have been using this as my everyday radio when I am outside on the ramp, doing runway inspections, mowing, or at my desk scanning or listening to the FM radio. The scanner function works really well and is quick enough that I can listen in on our local RCO and then hear the aircraft response on another frequency. Very compact compared to my previous hand held. Cons It is a little complicated at first to setup. You need to read to the manual to get it programmed. Nearly every setting on this radio is programmable, but once you have everything set, the radio is stone simple to use. The buttons can be a bit tricky, you have to press hard or press with your finger nail. I suspect this is because of the radio's waterproofing. I originally thought that I would be able to broadcast on the BRS frequencies, but its receive only. Not a big deal but would have been nice. General Comments

Overall Rating Durability Reliablity Value Usability Expectations	Pros The compact size requires little space and adds minimal weight to your flight bag. Enough accessories to provide flexible operational options. Side tone and split communication a nice feature if one needs to transmit on comm and listen on VOR. There are a plethora of functions available on this transceiver. Cons Buttons are not very responsive. It may be due to how they are sealed to provide the water resistance. I find I have to press them extra firmly to enact its function. Operation is not very intuitive. However, spending time reading the manual gets you going. General Comments This is a very worthwhile transceiver. I have not yet found the Business Service Radio frequencies a benefit to me. The NOAA weather service frequencies are a nice feature and provides weather alerts.

Overall Rating Durability Reliablity Value Usability Expectations	Pros As a lady with a small hand size I found the Spirit's small size to be perfect for my grip. I am very pleased with the easy-to-push buttons, clear reception, water resistant casing (!), long lasting battery life (so far), as well as the size and weight of the radio. Cons Menu operations will take some time to learn and acclimate to for me, as a beginner. It would be nice if the manufacturer put more in their user manual! Overall Rating Value Expectations	Pros Light weight is a big plus. It has a very robust case. Cons User interface is not intuitive. Light weight is the key advantage. I realized that the power supply is a heavy and old style transformer based unit. That offsets that "light weight" advantage if I travel with the airplane. If we fly to other countries I need a wide range power supply. The power supply that was delivered is only 110V. The key-pad does click but not work right. I have to press very strong after the click to get a response on the display. May be I have to send it back for warranty repair. General Comments

Cons Vertex could have done a better job of making the interface easy to use, for example making the SELECT button say ENTER. That said, the manual is pretty good and once you set it up, it can be very easy to use for most functions. General Comments I looked at the other radios, read the reviews, bought the radio and like it.
