• Connected world
Through increased online gameplay capabilities, "Flight Simulator X" offers players a connected world where they can choose whom they want to be, from air-traffic controller to pilot or co-pilot, as they interact with other aviators from around the globe by chatting in real time via headset and keyboard.

Pros
Adds more realism to FSX! Win 7 compatible!
Great training aid for home practice and days you get grounded by weather.
Cons
Yoke is a bit "sticky." Some movements will get caught and then register in FSX as a jerky movement.
General Comments
Need to download new drivers for Win 7 64-bit. Must read manuals to configure flight controls. Also it is a good idea to label the buttons and switches (I kept getting Landing Gear and Flap controls confused). Yoke sometimes tends to stick and squeak. At times it sounded like I was Capt. Jack Sparrow at the helm of the Black Pearl. It would be nice if it came with a trim wheel and some way to assign a button to TeamSpeak.

Pros
This product runs straight out of the box. You can install the Saitek software yet there is a learning curve to using it. The functions on the yoke are easy to program, Just go to controls in FSX and find the button you want to program and move it to the yoke button of your choice.
Cons
The yoke springs are a bit heavy causing a "jerky" motion on smaller more responsive planes. I simply opened the yoke from the bottom 12 screws and removed 1 of the 2 pitch springs and that issue went away. Not recommended just worked for me. And will void the warrenty!!!
General Comments
As a real pilot in training this set is a must have! As close to real as you can get without spending thousands of dollars.

General Comments
Having read many reviews and having a friend with this equipment, I knew there was going to be some set up involved, and expected and experienced it. This is not a "ready out of the box" product. My first problem was that the brakes stayed on all the time. After an hour or so of research on Saitek website, I found the answer that there were other axis turned on on the rudder pedals that needed to be off and after reversing the toe brakes in FSX they worked fine, differential braking makes taxi much easier. There is a mode switch on the right handle which seems to work only with Saitek's configuration software which I find very confusing to use, much easier to set up in FSX. I'm sure that after spending more time trying to understand Saitek's software this switch may be useful for different aircraft. The yoke does bind a little, was tempted to put a little 3in1 oil on shaft but decided against it. Yoke clamp poor design, but useable with some imagination. All in all, very happy with purchase, just need to spend some "ground school" time getting all the functions set up to my needs.

Pros
Excellent Training aid to go along with your flying lesson.
Saves money on lessons over time from practice with the simulator.
Train anytime with option to choose day or night including weather.
Option to practice at many airports.
Opportunity to fly many airplanes.
Cons
Calibration was difficult to setup the brakes.
You have to go back and forth into the computer alot unless you buy the other panel accessories to aid. (But it's not really needed) Easy process.
General Comments
I was more impress that this simulator was exact to the Cessna 172. Later I will invest in the switch panel and radio panel to elimanate switching it in the computer just for the added training purpose.
Overall perfect and I recommend it if you are thinking about taking flying lessons.

Cons
The install was fine but it doesn't create a desktop shortcut and it doesn't install shortcut in the start menu. You have to go find the shortcut in the program files/microsoft games directory. Very confusing and frustrating.
There is no explanation on how to get the game to show on more than one monitor.
General Comments
I like the product but for the novice user it's a little hard to get setup.

Rudder Pedals and Quadrant worked Great! Easy to Install.
Cons
My very mixed ratings are due to the Yoke showing up with one of the toggle buttons defective (elevator trim) which pretty much made it unusable out of the box. I shipped it off for repair / replacement and was told it would be several weeks for it to come back, so a month after purchase I'm still waiting to go flying!

Pros
Microsoft flight sim is an excellent product. It incorporates the realism of flight into a package that is affordable. I have been using it to supplement my IFR flight training and have found it to be very helpful. I am able to arrive at my actual flight lessons better prepared and ahead of the
Cons
The only con on the software is that the GPS diamond is difficult to see. I have not tried a larger screen. This would probably help. The real con is the Saitek yoke and rudder pedals. The yoke is not smooth in operation as other reviews have suggested. It is difficult to use
General Comments
The throttle quadrant that came with the package is excellent. It works like it is supposed to and it is a benefit to performing standard and half-standard rate turns, steep turns, cruise climbs and decents, and approaches.

Pros
I am a student pilot and this package as been an amazing help to my training. Every time I learn something new in ground school or in the air I practice it over and over in Flight Sim and it has really helped me shorten the learning curve. My CFI has told me he is shocked how quickly I am learning and successfully executing maneuvers and I feel that being able to practice over and over in an environment where you don’t have to worry about making mistakes or trying variations has been invaluable.
Cons
The instructions that the package comes leave a lot to be desired and Saitek is a foreign company so their website was not designed specifically for U.S. customers and offered very little in the way of set-up help. Thus, it took me days to figure out how to accurately configure all the controls the way I wanted them but once you figure it out it is amazing the configuration options you have.

Pros
Too early to really be sure of hardware durability, but seems well made. The yoke, pedals and quadrant are about as realistic as I think you can get without spending at least an order of magnitude more money. Worked on Windows XP with and without the included Saitek drivers. It took me a couple of hours of experimenting to get all the flight sim control sensitivities set up satisfactorily.
Cons
Documentation is not exactly extensive. People are not joking about how much computing power you need for higher realism settings. That said, if you're willing to accept slightly less realistic and dense graphics, you can get it working quite smoothly with a couple of year old PC (Athlon XP 3500+, 2GB RAM in my case). The other thing that I'm having a hard time getting used to is having to "look" around with the hat switch on the yoke, instead of just turning my head. I haven't flown such poor traffic patterns in real life in quite some time!
General Comments
I'm still just scratching the surface of what I can do with Flight Sim X but it's already clear I'm going to have a lot of fun with it. Meanwhile, the main reason I bought this package is I figure it will save me several hours of instrument training in the airplane, so this seems like money well spent.

Pros
Nice realistic feel. Yoke feels heavy and accurate. Programmable features other than standard profile is nice; alleviates the use of the mouse. I use the product with FSX and a 37" Flat panel television, along with a computer screen for GPS display. Your graphics card must support two monitors for this. Very cool in simulating approaches down to minimums, DP's, STARS, and holding. Haven't gotten to the DME arcs yet but it will probably be worthwhile as well.
Cons
Rudder pedals are a little unrealistic but useful nonetheless.
General Comments
I recommend acquiring the book "Flight Simulator as a Training Aid" to amplify the utility of the product and to provide training and refresher flights in unknown airspaces.
