Written by renowned seaplane instructor John Rennie, this book is the official single-engine seaplane training manual of Jack Brown's Seaplane Base in Florida. It covers specifications and systems for the Piper J-3 Sea Cub, but is adaptable to any seaplane in any training program. Superb sections on takeoffs and landings go beyond the basics to explain real world tips for better flying technique. In addition, Rennie covers all aspects of seaplane operation required for a checkride: preflight, regulations, how to read the wind and water, slow flight, stalls and engine failure. The material is supplemented by dozens of original drawings by Rennie, explaining float design, sailing, rough water operations and much more. Also includes a handy seaplane information directory. Approx. 165 pages, paperback.

Pros
The TEXT was good. Very consitent with the instruction given at Jack Brown's Sea Plane Base.
Cons
I recommend tht the statement "this book is the official single-engine seaplane training manual of Jack Brown's Seaplane Base" be confirmed with that facility.
Several illustrations in the book were a mess. There are about 2 dozen excerpts from an OBSOLETE Practical Test Standard. Sloppy illustration labelling prevails (such as a RAMP labelled as a "DOCK, and two illogically labelled graphs: Figs 13 and 40a.) In MANY cases, two or more illustrations are jammed together within one frame, confusing all.
General Comments
Recommended for textual content only. Illustrations are obsolete or confusing.
