ANR without batteries!
Telex's latest headset builds on the tradition of the Airman 750—the most popular lightweight aviation headset in the world. The new Airman ANR 850 is the next generation, with advances in clarity, comfort and convenience.
Clarity
The Airman ANR 850 adds up to 12dB of active noise reduction, specifically aimed at reducing wind noise in jet cockpits. An amplified electret mic provides the clearest communications, and features a fully flexible boom.
Comfort
Weighing less than 4 oz., the Airman ANR 850 is the lightest headset available with ANR. And with new, larger ear cushions, you’ll hardly notice it’s there.
Convenience
The ANR feature is completely powered by mic bias, meaning absolutely no batteries and no panel installation—it’s hassle-free ANR. Also includes a “set and forget” volume control and a folding design that fits easily into the included headset case.

Pros
Really lightweight, for the most part really comfortable.
Cons
Foam ear pads start to hurt ears after awhile. ANR is good but I thought it would block out more noise. A bit overpriced.
General Comments
Good product for the most part. ANR doesn't block out as much noise as I thought it should. Lightweight and comfortable. Like all headsets it starts to hurt your ears after awhile.

Pros
Light weight, worked as advertised. We use a pair of Telex 850 headsets in a corporate Challenger where the noise cancelling feature is useful in reducing wind noise in the cockpit.
Cons
Ear cushions are not as comfortable as I would like. The telex 750's were more comfortable with the foam coverings.

Pros
Light, comfortable, takes up a very small amount of room in the flight case. Seems well made and durable, the ANR really helps, very clear microphone and speakers.
Cons
High Volume function results in very high volume and the ANR "hissing" sound is really loud with the hot mic on. Low volume is sufficient even with ear plugs in the Q400 that I fly in.
I'd say its tolerable to wear it without ear plugs, but when I use low DB, comfortable resusable ear plugs the setup is awesome.
General Comments
A bit on the pricy side, I plan to use it the rest of my career though.

Pros
No batteries is a plus! Nice and light. I was used to Bose X's so the sound reduction is definitely there, but not close to Bose. Being light makes up for it.
Cons
It has a high/low setting for volume. They are extreme, very soft or very loud.
General Comments
I use them in a Hawker 800.

I fly a loud jet. ANR suppresses noise significantly. Very good product.
Cons
Only con I can report, as is the same on all Telex headsets, the Mic is sensitive so it transmits very loud on intercom for others. On long flights its better fot the crew to switch off hot mic.
General Comments
Overall, great headset.
