Pros
Very quiet. I previously owned a two sets of the Flightcom Denalis (ANR) and though the Denalis boast a similar noise reduction rating to the Stratus 30, I find the Telex Stratus 30s to be much, much quieter, particularly in their passive noise reduction. Unfortunately, ya can't have everything. As far as I can tell, this superior noise reduction is as a result of making the headsets out of thicker heavier material and designing them to clamp a bit. After trying them out, I decided that the benefit of having a nice quiet car-like environment, outweighed the marginal extra weight and clamping. Without the clamping effect, the noise leaks into the Denalis. The Denalis aren't ineffective, they just aren't as quiet as the Telex. I would point out that the Denalis are VERY comfortable...light weight and no clamping, with nice leather cups that never get clammy and sweaty. I think for some they might be preferable to the Telex Stratus for this reason for a lower or average noise cockpit (I will be using them in my Cherokee 180) I fly an RV-8 with no sound-proofing, hence the need for more noise reduction. Also, the adjustable "comfort" cam on the Stratus 30s makes them perfect for people with smaller heads. My girlfriend could not wear the Denalis without high levels of noise leakage. She would have to use her hands to clamp them in on her head in order to hear the comm. She described the Denali ANR as having no effect, unless she squeezed the cups in. I had no such problem. Being a pilot, I naturally have a big head. The Telex Stratus 30s work perfectly with her petite (and pretty) head. The sound quality of the music input on the Telex is very good. Also ...very important......the sound of the mic on the Telex is very good--a nice clear tone with just the right level of sidetone so you can hear yourself talk (sidetone is affected by an adjustment on the radio too). The Denalis also have a very good mic tone, but I think the Telex Stratus 30s may reject noise a little better, though it may just be the case that they are quieter headsets in general. It's hard to tell. Very close in mic tone quality any case. I have not tried the cell phone input. Uses AA batteries which I like better than 9 volts.
Cons
"Soft" switch on the Telex. You have to press a button to activate the ANR, and press and hold to deactivate. You must wait while you look to see if a light is blinking or not to tell if the ANR is on or off. Mildly annoying compared with a real toggle switch like on the Flightcom Denalis, but not a deal breaker for me. I like to look and instantly see whether the passenger remembered to turn the ANR off! Ear cups get a little clammy in hot weather. They could be upgraded for more $$$$.
General Comments
Impossible to say whether they are reliable at this point, so I gave them four stars based on other Telex headsets which I have owned/abused in the past. The earcups tend to get ripped after time, but still function fine when ripped and it's only about $30 for new ones. They are easy to put on with no tools.
The adjustable gain on the mic might make them more compatible with other headsets/radios if you want to mix and match headsets. The gain was perfect as received, so I left well enough alone.

Gets heavy after a few hours...the Bose is much lighter, but the price difference makes this headset the best bet for me.
