Designed with pilots in mind, the extended life carbon monoxide detector can identify carbon monoxide for a minimum of 18 months. A magnetic adhesive back allows this detector to be placed almost anywhere. A green spot indicates the presence of carbon monoxide. If the spot turns dark blue, the concentration is high enough to cause serious physical effects. When exposed to fresh air, the spot will eventually turn back to yellow. Measures 3” x 2”. I very much prefer this detector over other 'stick-on' ones. Most detectors only begin to indicate when the problem has almost reached the point-of-no-return, whereas this one will indicate the moment CO begins to enter the cockpit, thus giving you more time to resolve the problem and ensure the safety of your passengers and/or crew.

None. That one time you don't feel that you need a CO detector in a piston aircraft is going to be the one time you silently slip away and nose over into a preschool.
General Comments
There is absolutely no compromise when it comes to safety of passengers and crew. Whether you're a weekend rental pilot or a full-tilt, "if I'm not up there I'm just doing a little preflight," pilot, having a CO detector on-board is a critical safety issue. Too many pilots have decided they didn't need one, only to slip away into oblivion in a situation that was totally avoidable had they carried a basic safety item such as this. As we all know, don't ever think it won't happen to you, it will sooner or later. I really don't know what more I could add to this issue. If you aren't carrying a CO detector and you fly, you are going to die.

Actual indicator is very small and the colorful background of the surrounding detector could distract from a danger indication.
Difficult to write on the date, perhaps a border box to check the month would be a better way to record expiration. The way the plastic covers the "open date" will contribute to pilots simply not recording the date and increases the possibility of flying with a worthless detector when they will need it.

Every plane should have one of these, unless you want to carry or install an electronic one which screams at you. CO is especially hazardous for pilots because you might be incapacitated gradually without realizing it. Having a visual indication of a problem can help you take corrective action and get on the ground safely before it's too late.
