Great for IFR or VFR flying, this is one of the finest kneeboards we’ve seen. Folding design opens to reveal a standard 7-ring binder area—perfect for approach plates, checklists, etc. Separate writing surface lets you copy clearances or weather information without blocking the chart. Includes a pencil holder and built-in pencil sharpener. Can also be used as a simple clipboard, when in the closed position. Durable powder-coated aluminum construction provides a stable writing platform, and the contoured, padded leg strap creates a comfortable fit. Measures 9”l x 8”w (16”w when fully opened). Includes three chart pockets. Model A1-MC.

waste of money unless your yolk is very high off your knee. good concept.

Pros
Excellent construction. Many places for pens and pencils. Versatile - can put paper pretty much anywhere and in any configuration. Super nice fit around the leg. Secure, strong and an overall awesome product
Cons
It can be an pain in the ass. It's bulky and combersome. Behind the wheel of a 172, you have to sit further back or down away from the yoke. You'll end up turning the yoke and hitting the kneeboard if not. I use it to jot stuff down and then throw it back under my seat or pick it up, check an approach place I had put in there then throw it on the passanger seat, with the passanger or on the floor under the seat (it fits perfectly there)
General Comments
Could be cheaper but blows away all over kneeboards in terms of bells and whistles but it could be a bit sleeker in design.

Great product. It's like a mini desk for your lap.

Way too big. I'm a big person and it was hard metal the size of a dictionary that got in the way of the Yoke.

Pros
Very well constructed. Solid, professional piece. Comfortable on leg. Fairly compact in depth. Does not interfere with yoke on C172. Solid writing surface. Holds charts, planning sheets, pens, etc. well. Good legstrap and support which is comfortable over a long ride. Good ring binder system and bungee straps for holding things down. Velcro good for holding pens/pencils.Built in pencil-sharpener good as a last effort for dropped pens/mechanical pencils, but not practical for frequent use. Would not go back to previous tri-fold
Cons
The spring clips used are not a good choice. They have a fold-out lever plate which therefore requires two steps to open the clip: fold out the lever, then put pressure on it to pry open the clip. The clip system on other kneeboards don't use this clip. Also, when folded open, this clip contacts and pokes the top of my right leg, which is annoying when wearing shorts.
General Comments
Working on IFR rating - have yet to load with charts, and really put it to work, but so far this kneeboard seems to do it all! A little price at $85, but considering the solid aluminum construction, you'll see why. Being organized in flight is worth much more than that! Also, they should have included more clear D-ring pockets - it comes with 3, so you have to buy many more.

Well organizede for use IFR
Cons
A bit too pricey. If using the left side fold out for reading an approach chart, don't put an unused chart in what becomes the center section as your eyes will go to it first instead of the left side panel housing the approach chart you are using.
I wonder how long the la side foam friction sheets glued to the back sides will last.

Pros
I have used several different products to help me with cockpit organization and this product does the trick for me. Especially for the IFR flights. The hard case is very durable, compact and there is plenty of storage alternatives for my IFR approach plates, sectionals, and checklists. It works.
Cons
The cost is too high for the product, but again it is still the best kneeboard I have seen to date.

Provides a stable platform for writing, charts, and organization.
Cons
My first concern was if it's going to interfere with the flight controls. That was enough for me to return it with a "test drive". The second thing I was not happy with was the overall weight. It felt heavy prior to loading any maps, charts, or other items into it.

Pros
Really works well for IFR organization. The unit really does a nice job organizing, holding and displaying approach plates while seperating an area to view the flight log. In todays modern cockpit, it is becoming more common to print out your own approach plates for each flight. This unit has the right holding device and area to store all of the necessary plates for a flight and keep them organized. I also like the way it provides a seperate note pad area and the built in pencil sharpener is a great touch. I was skeptical at first but it is the best flight organizer I have ever owned by far.
Cons
It is expensive but I think it is worth it.

It is a little on the thick side. I simply lower the seat so that it does not interfere with the yoke. Visibility is still good and I'm only 5'6".
General Comments
I have always wanted a knee board with an additional writing surface and good organization for charts, approach plates, etc. I stayed away from the lap desks since they did not have a strap to secure them in flight. This knee board is great.

Keeps everything you need for IFR flight handy and well organized.
Comes with two pencils with velcro and additional velcro for your own pencil, and places to stick all three.
Can be configured either with just the single.
Cons
A little bulky when closed. I am short, so I am forward and like to sit high, and you need to have all the way up your thigh so it doesn't interfere with yoke
General Comments
This kneeboard is a little expensive, but if you want to have all your charts and checklists handy, this works great.
Be sure to buy additional chart holders that can be easily ripped out without having to open the rings. (Quick Release Chart Protectors)
I am training for my instrument rating and this kneeboard is just what I needed.

Pros
Solid, opens like a desk rather and does not flop down like the canvas ones. The left binders and clips are great. Used it on an ifr training flight and it helped me stay much more organized. The form fit to the leg is great, and it did not feel too tight to wear over my first 3 hour flight.
Cons
Built in pencil sharpener will drop shavings right on your leg so that is not much of a deal. I think it is a little pricey but since it is metal and will last that will probably turn out to be cheaper in the long run. If you fly a plane with a stick when opened it might get in the way but that is not an issue for me.
General Comments
It is a good size with good features.
