Limited Edition Signed by Walter Stewart
Walter T. Stewart was a B-24 pilot, flying 32 combat missions during WWII. The most historic of these was Operation Tidal Wave, the low-level bombing raid on Hitler’s well-defended oil refineries in Ploesti, Romania. After the commander’s B-24 was shot down, Stewart took the lead in his aircraft named Utah Man and dropped the first bombs of the raid. This handcrafted aerosculpture is a limited edition replica of that B-24. It has been weathered for authenticity, and the plaque on the base has been personally signed by Col. Stewart. Measures about 12.5”l with a 21” wingspan.
