Pros
WOW! I can see it on the passenger seat, it's huge! It's abut time and leave it to Hal!

Cons
Sorry, I just got the first one for a trip, so I have no idea of the durability of the disc, it just ought to be the same as any other disc, but once loaded in memory it has to be the same as the rest of the laptop and that is great if not dropped. I did some IFR on the trip, but flew into clear air after about an hour and a half, so didn't get to use the plates in anger.

General Comments
If I may comment on another product it might help. I took advantage of your introductory offer last year for an "AV8OR hand held. I did not get the WX part since weather in Nevada is always clear, or maybe once in a while so bad the hangar door will never be opened, not much in between. I used it on the recent trip, Reno to Cincinnati. It is a great little unit, I do like almost all of it very well, but don't try to program a new route or make changes in the air in turbulence, it borders on impossible with that touch screen, even with a stylus or pencil eraser. Luckily my very old Apollo Precidus still mostly works, needs some work on the power plug, have to wiggle it at times. I may go to E-Bay and look for one not as well used as mine, those buttons are so positive in their function. As there are no new data bases, I even resort to user waypoints so I can keep using it. I use these units in an old totally "Steam Gauge" Mooney, no autopilot or even wing leveler, no panel GPS. Mostly my IFR is the California coast Marine Layer. This trip did show I can still do more than that all by hand.

I like having them on my laptop. Handy for a just in case and research.

Cons
Slow to load the whole US. I wish they had a .pdf output so I could use them with an e-reader or ipod touch or internet tablet. Other than that, great product.

Pros
Reasonably priced electronic subscription to all U.S. Instrument Approach Procedure charts. Reliable delivery service.

Cons
Somewhat difficult to use in my tablet computer that I use as an EFB. Takes quite a bit of time to download an individual state's charts. In my particular situation, I have to have an external dvd reader since my tablet does not have an internal dvd player. So, I must download the charts I plan to utilize on a particular trip ahead of time so that they will be ready to access from the hard drive. If your computer has an internal drive, you may run the system directly from the disc. Options to size and manipulate the view of the charts are very limited.

General Comments
Overall, I think this is a good value and I intend to continue my subscription.

Pros
compact, all SIDS, STARS, APs for the USA. Low cost for individual or subscription service. Program ran well in "run from DVD" mode. However, I wished to load it into HDD or memory stick, see below.

Cons
many attempts to load to my tablet PC (Motion Computing M1400 XP Pro with 1.5GB RAM and 40 GB HDD) did not work. Likewise, unable to install onto desktop PC unless I let the program chose all default settings. Able to load and install from DVD using the "install on my PC" button but unable to get ChartViewer to "point" to the loaded pdf files. Files were present, as I could load them directly into Acrobat reader. ditto no luck in attempts to load the program to a USB 16 GB "thumb" drive on that PC. Load appeared successful, no error messages, but progarm could not bring up any plates. The program may be too "user friendly" as there is no advanced menu wherein one can indicate which directory contains the state files.

General Comments
hope the product is upgraded to a bit more bullet-proof as many of us wish to install plates (and charts) onto solid-state HDD or other solid state drives and use tablets or sub-notebooks. If there are more advanced instructions available, I'd welcome them. I would recommend this product to others, but with caveat that it is not reliable except when used from DVD.

All of the FAA IFR charts pre-downloaded with a clickable map.

Cons
It costs a small, nominal fee.

General Comments
This is great because it saves from having to download all of these. If you fly IFR and like to pre-print your plates just for your route, or if you want to study up, then these are great. Also, it's the standard FAA plates, so you don't have to pay Jep licensing fees as part of the cost.

does in indeed have all the terminal charts, and at a low price

slow. I had imagined an interface where I put in my route and a radius and it finds all the charts and prints them. Having to know each icao identifier and go through the process of printing each one out is just too cumbersome.

On a PC the chart viewer seems to work all right.

Cons
Not available for Mac computers.

General Comments
The fact that the chart viewer is programmed for only PC computers and not Mac OS X is a big disappointment. It's about time that Sporty's realized that there are many Mac computers out there and programmed for them.

Pros
The program is easy to use and reliable. Charts can be quickly found. The charts are clear and easy to read. Saves money.

Cons
When the charts are first loaded, they are so magnified that you can only see part of the chart at a time. The "Fit Window" button doesn't work so you need to zoom out about 3 times to view the entire chart.

General Comments
I always have hard copies of the approach plates that I'm going to need at my destination airport, but to be prepared for any change of plans en route and the need to divert to a different airport, it's great to have every approach plate for every airport that you will fly by and not have to have a suitcase to carry them all on a long cross country. You can also be more spontaneous in your flight plans and not worry that your charts won't come in time in the mail.
