Logbook Pro is designed to provide the aviation community a flexible and easy solution to log flight records, from certificates and ratings, to medicals and flight reviews, to actual flight data. Logbook Pro uses high-performance Windows development technology from Microsoft to enable a solid, secure, and reliable software for the end user. Flexibility is built in allowing the user to customize Logbook Pro to suit their specific needs and regulations requirements. A powerful currency editor is included allowing the user to build any currency requirement required by regulations, world-wide. Installation of Logbook Pro is straight-forward using the latest installer technology which is non-invasive on the Windows OS platform and includes full uninstall support without breaking other applications already installed.
Automation is built in by keeping aircraft configuration separate from data entry. By setting characteristics to the aircraft configuration, Logbook Pro does not require or recommend aircraft specific information, such as Airplane Single-Engine Land information be logged with a flight entry itself. When Logbook Pro produces reports and data analysis output, it will reference the Duration value for the flight entry, take the Aircraft Type entered and pull the aircraft specifics configured and provide all the pertinent output from this technique. This minimizes data entry and reduces the margin for errors. Auto fill is also a system included whereas the user configures each aircraft type to auto-copy the Duration value to target fields, thus minimizing data entry time for fixed entry parameters. For example, if flying a Boeing 777, and configured appropriately, when entering the Duration, the Cross-Country, PIC, and other fields, as designated, can be automatically entered.
Error checking is performed in two stages; 1) at the time of data entry, and 2) when commanded by the user to conduct an error analysis of the flight log data. Error checking ensures entries are in accordance with common data entry parameters, such as PIC, SIC, etc. not exceeding that of Duration for a specific flight. Logbook Pro will flag a warning to the user to correct the error, both at data entry, when data is committed, as well as during a manual scan.
Professional output is as important as accurate input. Logbook Pro provides over 60 reports, including ones replicating the Jeppesen traditional paper logbook and numerous data analysis and formatted outputs. Logbook Pro provides flexibility through custom report template designers and a report combiner where the user can select various reports to combine into one output presentation.
Data Analysis is one of the most important pieces of an aviation logbook in allowing the user to extract data for various requirements. Logbook Pro provides interactive graphs for visual data analysis, the Logbook Pro Explorer for a single area view of the logbook, and the powerful pivot-table style system "The Analyzer." Military pilots pursuing civilian jobs can take advantage of the conversion utility often allowed for interviews compensating military for different flight logging requirements. All analysis methods allow for data capture in both the ability to print as well as export to image and other database recognizable formats for maximum flexibility.
FAR 121 & FAR 135 Time Calculations, included with the Professional and Enterprise Editions allow click of the mouse checks of FAR 121 & FAR 135 time limit summaries. Take the pain out of ensuring compliance with complex FAR regulations such as time limitations of FAR 121 and FAR 135 operations. View time limitations and status information in an instant by a single click of the mouse or print out the color coded status reports for both FAR 121 and FAR 135 operations. Logbook Pro PDA Companions sync’ing with the Professional or Enterprise Editions also present the FAR 121 and FAR 135 limitations within the “Lookback” report available on the PDA Companion. Keep your time limits readily available with your PDA Companion while on a trip. Logbook Pro is the answer to your corporate time limit compliance.
Documentation is thorough and organized to allow the user to become familiar with the software via a quick-start and also with in depth coverage of the software including the PDA Companion devices. Tutorials are provided with the Logbook Pro Computer Based Training (CBT) Video Tutorials, containing over 3 1/2 hours of video and audio training of the products.

Pros
The software allows you to track all of the required catagories and even insert your own customized ones if desired. The reports are very handy and the export to Excel feature is nice.
Cons
The user interface is a little basic considering the cost. The charts, while handy, aren't customizable as I would like. Also, it takes a while to learn.
General Comments
Overall I would say that it's a good electronic logbook. It does what you need it for and that's track time. The GUI is a little primative and I'd have to say that it's a tad overpriced.

software was more complicated than expected. software sorely needs to have a short quick reference guide/manual to assist set up and familiarity with the product. it seemed more designed to let the buyer figure it out instead of supplying useful reference information. the two main pilot logbook page configurations of the software, don't seem to be compatible. i had expected a better developed software product.

Pros
I am very pleased with my Logbook Pro program. Back 20 years ago, when computers were starting to become easily accessible, I started playing with spread sheets to use as a logbook. Being a nurd to some extent, and a poor penman, I figured there had to be an easy solution to the logbook delimma. There is also the old, "I went away for a three month job and forgot to bring my logbook with me." situation. Catching up got to be a hassel and a surefire way to get writers cramp.
With this program, I now have my logbook with me even in the camps that I stay in in the summer. In Alaska, it is not unusual to be on a job for 3 months during the season. Every pilot I know now carries a computer with him as even most of the tent camps have internet access. It is essential for flight reports to the home office. Because of the need to carry a computer, it is always available. Because of this, flight times can be entered and printed off later for a permanent record.
Cons
The only draw-back that I have noticed is the complete logbook, is oriented to fixed wing type aircraft with helicopters relagated as an afterthougt. This is common to all logbooks. By doing this, sections specific to Helicopters, i.e. external loads. With a normal handwritten logbook, this makes a messy document. Luckily, with the Logbook Pro, you can add these flights to your totals. So even the drawbacks has been solved with this logbook.

Inputting data is AWFUL! The software publisher must not have tried entering several line items into the logbook at the same time. This was most cumbersome. If I had more space, I would explain how horrible a few fields were to enter.

Pros
It seems really complicated to use at first but with a little practice it gets to be really easy. I enjoy it and the extra things like graphs, reports, filters.
You can split up and see the total hours in aircraft type, N number, etc.
I looked at a lot of electronic logbooks that were a lot cheaper, but this one is worth the extra money if you want to go electronic. It is my plan to have both electronic and paper copies, that way I always have a backup. There are many options, you can set your logbook up the way you want it!
Cons
It does take a while to set up, but take the time and set it up the way you want it. It seems to be taking me forever to enter each of my individual flights. (but at least it is so much easier to see details )
General Comments
It does take a while to catch up previous flights, but it is worth it. If you are wanting to go digital hurry and choose the logbook that is right for you, the longer you wait the more you will have to catch up.

General Comments
Overall, I love this product, especially when I am filling out applications. Once I got all 3 of my logbooks entered, which took quite some time, it is easy to keep it up. A must have for any professional pilot. Hint: start with it when you first decide to fly professionally, then it is easier once you get a few logbooks under your belt.
