Saturday, March 6 marked the beginning of the 2010 Midwest flying season. Bright clear skies and light winds offered a welcome contrast to the previous months of cold dreary weekends. Pilots and aircraft from throughout the region were apparently awakened from winter hibernation and quickly filled Sporty’s ramp this past Saturday enjoying fellowship, grilled treats and a little shopping at the world’s largest pilot shop.
“Today is the perfect cure for my cabin fever!” remarked one visiting pilot over the sound of aircraft propellers reflecting a sentiment echoed by several others throughout the afternoon.
“We invite all pilots, from students to ATPs, to come visit us here at Sporty’s,” stated Michael Wolf, Sporty’s President. “Customers will notice we have expanded our retail area, adjusted our fuel prices and even added a Hot Seat® flight simulator for folks to try their hand at flying everything from 172s to F-15s to 737s.”
Sporty’s Pilot Shop, located at the Clermont County Airport (I69) just east of the Cincinnati OH class B airspace, sponsors a fly-in every Saturday afternoon featuring free hot dogs, brats, and metts. The retail store at Sporty’s is open 10AM – 6PM Monday thru Friday, 11AM – 5PM Saturday and 11AM – 3PM on Sunday.
