An unmatched combination of comfort, noise reduction and clearer audio The Bose Aviation Headset X has set the standard for business and general aviation headsets for years. It offers excellent full-spectrum noise reduction, but with far less clamping forcethan most conventional headsets. It is quiet, light, and comfortable. Period.
The new version of this headset maintains the same standard of quality, but with some major improvements:
AdaptiSense™ technology doubles the battery life--now up to 40 hours on just two AA batteries
Smart automatic shutoff senses when you've stopped using the headset, saving battery life
New ergonomic control module is 30% smaller and includes a real-time power status indicator
Redesigned boom mic offers increased durability and more precise placement
The Bose Aviation Headset X marks a departure from conventional thinking. Standard technology often achieves noise reduction by creating a tighter seal against your head using higher pressure. Or, larger earcups are used to hold more insulation–which only increases weight. Either way, comfort is sacrificed.
This stereo headset is engineered differently, to work as a system that improves both noise reduction and comfort. That’s because Bose’s proprietary TriPort™ headset technology is a breakthrough in active noise reduction. Significant advances in acoustic, electronic and ergonomic technologies are part of the Bose system design approach that helps make this headset so effective in reducing noise. In short, better active noise canceling technology allows for more comfortable headsets. You know the Bose name—it’s synonymous with audio quality. Take this reputation into the cockpit with the Aviation Headset X.
Battery powered headset uses two AA batteries (included) that lasts for approximately 40 hours of continuous operation. Includes deluxe carrying case and owner's manual. Five year warranty.
Features:
Small Size gives you more room in the cockpit
Low weight (12 oz.) makes for the most comfortable headset around
Unique protein leather foam earseals provide a soft, consistent fit-even with glasses
Torsion spring creates a consistent fit without the "vise clamp" feeling
Over 95% intelligibility score at 115 db
Dual volume controls, stereo/mono switch and LED power status indicator

Pros
Great product which eases communication with ATC, and feels much lighter than other headsets.... hardly notice your wearing one. For the price would be nice to win the Sporty's 2010 plane give-away.
Cons
Price is up there but this is aviation, and you really can not put a price on increased safety with improved communication with ATC.
General Comments
Wish every pilot could have one.

Pros
I had the Zulu Headset for 6 months and can say for certain that the Bose headset is undoubtedly more comfortable The pressure on your head approaching 2 hours is too much. The Bose headset does has about half the pressure and so my biggest pro is that I don't feel like my head is being smashed like the Zulus.
Cons
Features...I wish so much the Bose had bluetooth.
General Comments
Given the comfort, the Bose are clearly the winner.

General Comments
This headset truly is amazing. Is it worth $995.00? Well, is Starbucks coffee really worth $4?? That's up to the consumer to decide. I would say no, but it is the best headset that I have ever owned. I can't rate the reliability or durability since I have only used the headset 5 times.

Lightweight, ANR.
Cons
The ANR/volume control box is a bit cumbersome and I agree with one of the other reviewers that the storing case is about a half inch too short, causing that sharp bend in the wire. You'd think Bose would've noticed this.
General Comments
Worthit overall.

Excellent quality, noise reduction, and comfort.
Cons
The NR control is too close to the floor causing it to weigh heavily near your knee and not be easy to reach. There is no Bluetooth or other phone interface which is ridiculous for a $1000 headset. The storage case is 1/2 inch too short causing a sharp bend in the cord as it leaves the headset.
General Comments
My CFI has had the same headset for years and is not bothered by most of the things I listed. This is a comfortable headset that I expect to enjoy for many years.
