Sporty’s Pilot Shop is a proud supporter of the Boy Scouts of America’s Aviation Exploring program, hosting an Aviation Exploring Post 78 for the last 15 years. Aviation Exploring is a career development program for teenagers with an interest in aviation. Aviation businesses, colleges or organizations interested in teaching local youth about aviation and the many opportunities available are invited to start an Exploring Post. Youth Aviation Adventure (YAA), a program that brings kids to the airport to learn about aviation in a fast-paced, exciting atmosphere is another program Sporty’s supports to engage young people. A series of nine learning stations, each staffed by pilots, are used to teach kids about a host of aviation topics, including aerodynamics, careers, pre-flight and more. The organized curriculum, developed with the Ohio State University college of education, provides an organized framework for groups interested in hosting a YAA event at their airport.
