Rolf Frieden of Geneva, Switzerland and Manfred Melloh from Sydney, Australia made a pit stop at Sporty’s June 29th on their round the world flight in Rolf’s Piper PA24/260C. The pair began their journey last June in Comanche HB-PON. Sporty’s motto of "Keeping flying fun for 50 years" meshed well with these adventurers mission statement of "Fulfilling a once in a lifetime dream traveling around the world, meeting a lot of people from different cultures, and having a bunch of fun".
After a full tour of the airport facilities including the flight line, delivery hangar, Air Mod, Select Aircraft Maintenance, Cincinnati Avionics, Sandy’s Farm residential airpark and Sporty’s Grove, Captain Rolf and Skipper Manfred spent some time shopping in the World’s Largest Pilot Shop. After refreshing their charts and securing the latest Sporty’s catalog the intrepid travelers once again boarded HB-PON for the next leg of their journey to Dayton’s Wright Brothers airport (KMGY) which will host the 2009 Comanche convention in October.
