ABOUT SPORTY'S ACADEMY

Sporty's Academy was established in 1987 to develop aviation courses designed to teach pilots everything they needed to know about aviation except actually flying the airplane. For several years it gave courses in locations around the country in conjunction with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Air Safety Foundation. Sporty's Academy now produces pilot videotape courses including in-the-cockpit techniques for actually piloting an airplane. The Academy also teaches courses for the University of Cincinnati Clermont College, that allow students to receive an Associate or Bachelor Degree from the University at the same time they obtain a Commercial Pilot's License with an Instrument Rating.

MORE INFORMATION

Home base for Sporty's Academy is the Clermont County Airport, located 20 miles (32 km) east of Cincinnati, Ohio USA. Cincinnati is located in the east central portion of the United States and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is a major hub for non-stop flights from world wide locations.

The Clermont County Airport has 3700 feet (1127 m) of paved runway with a full length parallel taxiway. The airport has three approved instrument approaches. Runway lighting, runway end identifier lights and the visual approach slope guidance lights for each final approach are pilot controlled. There is no control tower. Sporty's Academy students fly to Lunken Airport which is less than 10 nautical miles (16 km) away for experience with control tower operations. This avoids the lengthy ground delays that occur at tower airports.

Students flying cross country from Clermont County experience a wide variety of terrain, from the urban Greater Cincinnati Area to surrounding farm lands, rolling hills and mountains. There are numerous precision and non precision instrument approaches in the vicinity. More than 175 within 100 miles (161 km) of the Clermont County Airport.

All flight training conducted by Sporty's Academy is accomplished with a fleet of twelve aircraft owned and operated by Eastern Cincinnati Aviation, Inc. Training aircraft include: four Cessna 152s, two Cessna 172Ps, two new Cessna 172Rs, a new Cessna 182S, two Piper Cadets, a Beech A36 Bonanza, and a Piper Aztec.

Subjects include: Aerodynamics, Aviation Law, Aircraft Systems, and Airport Management. The addition of this library further acknowledges Sporty's Academy's belief in excellence not adequacy education.
